St. Sebastian (January 20)

The legendary saint, St. Sebastian, is widely believed to have been raised and educated in the Italian city of Milan. Sebastian, legend has it, enlisted in the Roman army in the year 283 to aid persecuted Christians. Despite his best efforts, he was eventually exposed and reported to the emperor for his Christian faith. Sebastian was supposed to be killed by an arrow barrage, but he was rescued and revived by a Christian woman. Sebastian offered himself to the emperor around the year 284, only to be executed as a martyr. His relics were interred in the catacombs, and he is now the patron saint of athletes, warriors, and doctors.
